Military mission execution – war room has a spot what is given to the most capable and the most strong character. But it is temporary until peace time, when peace reaffirms itself the spot is empty. Same applies to the economic life – the spot is empty until there is an emergency. And when there is emergency the war cabinet is full of personalities with their views but responsibility and authority is just on one person. Do we want capable and strong personalities be in the spot, we need to have a warlike situation.
Future alliances
My mind is boggled by a question – which nations will rise in 30-50 years and I have no good bets. I agree that we will live in multipolar world with 3-4 value-based alliances. Creators (Liberal World) – good at Innovation 101, Producers (Pan-Asian World) – good at making Innvoation 101 better and cheaper, Sourcers (Russkiy Mir, some African countries) – provide ingredients for Innovation 102 and above, and finally – the Undecided (those which are not in previous 3 groups) – they are just situational.
Burst of inspiration
Why do writers sometimes have periods when they suddenly produce a huge amount of text – almost bursts of productivity? This is usually attributed to inspiration, to some sort of “muse.” But if you think about it, it might be connected to something entirely different. Many writers are older individuals who often face serious health problems. They may suffer from insomnia, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, the effects of using psychoactive substances, or other medical and psychological challenges.
And when that very moment comes – the one we call “inspiration” – it is more likely a window of opportunity when their physical or mental state allows them to work. They understand they must get as much done as possible while they still can. After all, tomorrow might bring a headache, insomnia, or simply the physical inability to create.
Choosing sides
Old and new always coexist: GSM and G5, oil and coal, oil and green, etc. Sooner or later you need to choose the side!
Visual storytelling
People are obsessed with storytelling. But the biggest story of yours is your appearance. What do you want your appearance to tell others?
Courage
Can courage be taught/trained? I am interested in the science of courage
Agile paradox
Companies all over world are obssessed by Agile governance. It makes sense from efficiency standpoint, we all know that very often people do wrong things but very efficiently. Agile is good to improve what exists but bad to build what does not exist.
Cultural determinism
Regarding the menu of developmental paths for countries, I don’t think they truly have options to choose from. Each model on the menu draws inspiration from a certain reference, but their success was largely due to a conducive cultural environment in those countries. State capitalism thrived in China, for example, because of specific Confucian values – such as obedience and acceptance of a guiding state. I believe that governments should accelerate the path most aligned with our own cultural context. Never bet against culture!
Institutional evolution
Sometimes government institutes are created for one purpose and when that purpose is over, institutional evolution makes them try another skin. “Food chain” of institutes is ruthless and often those institutional species with higher adaptability to the political environment eat bigger mammoths.
